The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) shortlisted five candidates for the position of caretaker prime minister, according to defence minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif.

The PML-N stalwart stated that all of the individuals who have been shortlisted are politicians in a statement. He added that he had not been approached with a proposal to serve as the temporary setup’s leader.

The candidates’ names would also be discussed with other political groups, according to Mr. Asif, who expressed the expectation that a name would be decided upon within a week. He declared that the coalition partners’ top leaders will make the final call.
