Ali Muhammad Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was granted bail by the Peshawar High Court on Thursday and was subsequently freed from custody.
Justices Ijaz Anwar and Fazal Subhan sat on a two-person bench to hear the case. The deputy commissioner (DC) for Mardan was instructed by Justice Anwar to show up in person. He added that no one would muster the confidence to commit crimes if a DC was made an example of. He then put the hearing on hold until August 8.
After being detained for 80 days for vandalism on May 9, Khan was finally freed. In the course of three months, he was detained seven times.
