One person was killed and numerous others were hurt when a fire broke out on a ship with approximately 3,000 vehicles on board Wednesday off the coast of the Netherlands, according to the coastguard.
The 199-meter Panama-registered Fremantle Highway was travelling from Germany to Egypt when the fire broke out on Tuesday night, forcing many crew members to leap overboard.
The flaming boat was doused with water by rescue ships to put out the flames, but the Dutch coastguard warned that pouring too much water could have caused it to sink. A salvage ship attached itself to it to prevent floating.
