Despite his fifth-ranked team being held to a goalless draw by Jamaica in their Women’s World Cup opening on Sunday, France coach Herve Renard insisted there was no reason to panic.
The French had won their initial match without conceding a goal in each of their previous three appearances at the championships, but were defeated by the 43rd ranked Reggae Girlz.
“I think they gave us a good run for our money,” he said, according to reporters. “After drawing my first two games, I’ve already won competitions.” I don’t believe we should get ahead of ourselves.
