In one of several lucrative contracts President Tayyip Erdogan obtained for Turkey’s beleaguered economy on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia decided to purchase Turkish drones. Ankara is now reaping the rewards of Erdogan’s recent diplomatic campaign to mend relations with Gulf Arab states.
Erdogan and Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, were present at the signing ceremony between Turkish defence company Baykar and the Saudi Defence Ministry, according to Saudi state news agency SPA.
Erdogan began his Gulf tour on Monday with a stop in the Saudi city of Jeddah on the Red Sea.
