: (Reuters) German Finance Minister Christian Lindner is reportedly refusing Intel’s (INTC.O) request for more subsidies for a chip plant valued at $18 billion (€17 billion), stating that the country cannot afford it. This is according to the Financial Times.

According to Lindner, “there is no more money available in the budget,” in an interview with a publication. “Instead of raising the budget, we’re trying to consolidate it right now.”

The corporation anticipated receiving 6.8 billion euros in government support for its German manufacturing location. However, the magazine said that because to growing energy and construction costs, it is now requesting around 10 billion euros.
