Olaf Scholz, the chancellor of Germany, declared on Saturday that he will soon call Russian President Vladimir Putin to encourage him to pull Russia’s soldiers out of Ukraine.

Speaking at a gathering of the German Protestant church in Nuremberg, Scholz claimed to have previously spoken on the phone with Putin.

“I intend to repeat it shortly. He added that he will seek to prevent NATO from becoming involved in the conflict. “It’s not reasonable to force Ukraine to approve and accept the raid that Putin has carried out and that parts of Ukraine become Russian just like that,” he said.
