Mark Hamill recently talked up about his astonishment at being picked to voice the Joker in several Batman productions, revealing that he was first confident he wouldn’t be chosen.
“When I went in for the Joker role, I thought to myself, ‘You think they’re going to hire Luke Skywalker to play the Joker?'” ‘The supporters will go insane!’ I was convinced that I would not get cast. “I was completely relaxed,” he explained to Movieweb.
He said, “A lot of times there’s performance anxiety because you want the part, but here I knew I couldn’t get the part, so who cares?” ‘That’s the finest Joker they’ll ever hear, and it’s too bad they can’t cast me,’ I thought as I drove out of the parking lot. And as soon as they cast me, the situation flipped. ‘Oh no, I can’t do this!’ I said.
However, Hamil did become the voice of the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, which ran on Fox Kids from 1992 to 1995 and featured 85 episodes.
