A deputy commissioner order that ordered the detention of PTI personnel in connection with the protests on May 9 was ruled unconstitutional on Wednesday by the Peshawar High Court (3 MPO).

A day earlier, a two-member bench composed of Justices Shakeel Ahmed and Waqar Ahmed issued its reserved ruling following the hearing of the arguments from the parties concerned.

After ruling the 3 MPO notification illegal, the bench ordered police to release everyone detained in accordance with this clause.

The highest court’s judgement states that the defendants must submit surety bonds in order to be released. Additionally, it directed the authorities to act right away if the suspects are wanted in any other case.
