The United States “won’t tolerate” China’s effective ban on purchasing Micron Technology (MU.O) memory chips and is working closely with partners to address such “economic coercion,” according to US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo on Saturday.

Raimondo stated at a press conference following a meeting of trade ministers in the United States-led Indo-Pacific Economic Framework discussions that the United States “firmly opposes” China’s moves against Micron.

These “target a single US company without any basis in fact, and we see it as plain and simple economic coercion, which we will not tolerate and do not believe will succeed.”
