KARACHI, — Abdul Qadir Patel, federal health minister and PPP politician, stated on Friday that PTI president Imran Khan’s medical report revealed medication usage rather than fractures.
In a news conference, he said that Mr Khan was inspected in PIMS after being imprisoned, and that he roamed for 5-6 months with a plaster. “No medical report shows fractures on Mr Khan’s body,” he continued.
He went on to argue that the courts granted Mr Khan relief before the medical report was requested, but that the report could not be made totally public. “A urine sample from Mr Khan was also taken for testing,” he said.
Mr Patel said that the first report revealed alcohol and drug addiction.
The minister went on to warn that information on the alcohol-to-cocaine ratio will be released shortly, and that the investigation raised concerns about Mr Khan’s mental health. “I used to say he was mentally unstable even when he was the PM,” he continued.
“I told Mr Khan that when you are arrested, reports on you will be formed,” he stated.
Mr Patel went on to suggest that PPP leaders Faryal Talpur and Asif Ali Zardari were detained while sick. “Mr Khan got bail as remand,” he noted.
The PPP had also been at conflict with institutional policies, he added, adding that they had supported the army through tough times. “We cannot even consider desecrating martyrs’ graves,” he continued.
