ISLAMABAD – Fayazul Hassan Chohan declared on Tuesday that he was quitting the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), dealing yet another blow to the group.

After Shireen Mazari, he is now the second well-known leader to leave the party. Earlier, despite the court having granted Ms. Mazari bail, she had been jailed for the seventh time in ten days.

Speaking to the media, he claimed his family had a strong affection for the military and that he would continue to expose plots against Pakistan. He said, “No one in the party leadership attempted to dissuade Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, from engaging in aggressive politics.

Only he attempted to persuade Mr. Khan to engage in nonviolent politics, he said. He was thus forbidden from going inside Zaman Park after Mr. Khan gave him the title of media advisor, the source said.

He continued by saying that he had told Mr. Khan to keep his battle strictly political and avoid attacking institutions. He said, “I informed Mr. Khan that the people surrounding you are not giving you sound advice.

Fawad Chaudhry, Alia Hamza, Murad Saeed, Musarrat Cheema, Shireen Mazari, and other top PTI figures often advised Mr. Khan to oppose the army, adding that he was not even permitted to participate in the PTI’s key committees. According to him, “Mr Khan did not even tweet a single line denouncing attacks on the homes of members of his family.”

According to Mr. Khan, other party officials informed him that Chohan was connected to the military.

Mr. Chohan went on to remark that by designating him as his spokesman, former Punjab CM Parvez Elahi preserved his dignity and prevented him from having to confront his opponents in the legislature. He said that from December to January 2021, “all ministers were conspiring to remove Mr. Khan and former Punjab CM Buzdar from power.”

He stated that every time he attempted to speak out, he received a shut-up call. “Mr Khan appointed Amir Kiani to spread the news that Mr. Chohan would not be given the PTI ticket,” he continued.

He promised to contact PTI officials Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, and Parvez Elahi among others. He said, “We will serve the nation via a new platform.
