ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia – Emmanuel Macron arrived in Mongolia on Sunday for a quick but historic visit, the first by a French president to the nation tucked between China and Russia, which is gaining geopolitical importance in the West.
According to an AFP photographer travelling with his group, the French president arrived in Ulaanbaatar about 6:30 p.m. after attending the G7 conference in Hiroshima, Japan.
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, France has increased its attempts to reach out to countries who have not officially denounced it, including Mongolia.
