ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – On Friday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced plans to conduct simultaneous polls throughout the nation.

The electoral watchdog had begun collecting names of returning officers (ROs) for simultaneous elections. The ECP sent a letter to the four provincial election commissioners in this respect.

The ECP had requested data from ROs, District Returning Officers (DROs), and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) until June 1.

The electoral watchdog will begin training for election day after selecting polling employees.

The ECP took notice of a breach of the election code by the Sindh police earlier today, after the transfer of grade 18 and 19 police officials on May 18.

According to the ECP, prominent police personnel in Sindh have been reassigned while the province’s local government (LG) polls are still ongoing. According to the ECP, these transactions were in breach of election regulations.

The election commission has requested that the Sindh IGP revoke the police officers’ transfer orders. “No transfer orders can be issued after the election schedule is issued,” the ECP said.
