ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said on Thursday that the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s (SCP) ruling on election conduct would be recognised.

ECP Secretary Umar Hameed said at the election training session that the electoral body was encountering issues. He stated his commitment that the media would not have any difficulties in covering the elections.

He said that the deadline for printing the election had past, and that the printing process had been halted owing to a shortage of cash.

Mr Hameed said that the electoral watchdog will make a judgement as soon as the Supreme Court’s sessions concluded.

Earlier today, Awami Muslim League president Sheikh Rashid said that democracy would be jeopardised if the country did not support the courts.

Sheikh Rashid said on the social networking platform Twitter claimed all parties were hellbent on imprisoning or killing Imran Khan. He said that the assembly, which had no legal standing, was constantly denigrating the judges. The administration was considering putting the Chief Justice on leave.

He said that the nation was in a critical state. Mr Rashid said that Imran Khan had no option but to call. What the rulers are doing is going to backfire. The rule of law and the constitution will triumph, and elections will be conducted. He said that the government will reclaim the right to set election dates from the President.

According to the former minister, the electoral commission’s role is to organise elections, not to represent the government. He said that lawmakers will besiege the Supreme Court. Mr Rashid said that the prince’s priority was the coronation of the King, not resolving the country’s critical issues.
