ISLAMABAD – The non-bailable arrest warrants issued for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and others in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) case filed against them were cancelled on Tuesday by an accountability court.

Mr Abbasi’s lawyer came in court to present a petition requesting the cancellation of his warrants. The warrants were issued earlier by the court when Mr Abbasi and his counsel failed to attend.

Judge Nasir Javed has already issued warrants for Mr Abbasi. The court, on the other hand, issued arrest warrants for co-accused Uzma Adil.

Previously, an accountability court had deferred its decision in the LNG reference brought against the former prime minister by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Former finance minister Miftah Ismail and others, including industrial companies, were also named in the reference.
