Beijing (Reuters): According to the government, economic losses from natural catastrophes in July nearly doubled from the same month last year due to excessive rainfall and severe flooding in China.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Management, China’s economic losses from natural disasters last month were 76.9 billion yuan ($10.1 billion), with 88% of the losses coming from severe rains, floods, or their aftereffects.
According to ministry data, it was the largest lost amount for the month of July since 2021.
According to the government, 328 individuals were reported missing or killed as a result of natural disasters that struck about 26.4 million people in China throughout the month.
