PARIS (AFP) Novak Djokovic overcame a troubling knee injury concern and a massive second-set deficit to advance to his fourth Olympic Games semi-final on Thursday. Djokovic was “hoping for the best” Thursday that his problematic right knee would not spoil his quest of capturing Olympic gold.
Djokovic aggravated his knee, which required surgery in June, after his 6-3, 7-6 (7/3) quarterfinal victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas on Thursday at Roland Garros.
The 37-year-old required on-court treatment and pain relief after stumbling on Court Philippe Chatrier’s baseline and walking carefully around the arena.
He rallied from 0-4 and then 2-5 down, saving three set points in the ninth game before cruising to victory in the tiebreak.
