LAHORE (A News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has scheduled a hearing on Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder’s appeal to terminate his jail sentence for contempt of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issue.

A three-member panel led by Justice Aliya Neelam will hear the matter on January 29. The court requested arguments regarding LHC’s jurisdiction.
The court has also directed the petitioner’s attorney to produce specific papers to the court.

The PTI founder petitioned the LHC to stop the prison trial for contempt of the ECP issue.

The LHC has also overturned the judgment to reject bail requests in seven instances filed against the PTI founder.

The PTI founder was indicted in the ECP contempt case for insulting the Chief of ECP and the institution.
