LAHORE (A News) – On Saturday, the former PTI Chairman’s nomination papers were rejected in Lahore’s NA 122 and Mianwali’s NA-89 seats.
The returning officer made the judgment after Muslim League-N leader Mian Naseer objected, claiming that the proposer and supporter of the PTI founder were not from NA 122.
Furthermore, complaints were raised regarding the disqualification of the founder in the Toshakhana case, resulting in the rejection of nomination papers for 11 candidates in NA 122.
The examination period for candidates running in the 2024 general elections has ended, resulting in the rejection of the PTI candidates’ nomination papers.
PTI candidates Zulfi Bukhari and Azam Swati’s papers were also rejected.
Three previous assembly members were rejected in NA-214 owing to non-appearance in several proceedings, including Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his son Zainuddin Qureshi.
Similarly, PTI leader Sardar Hasnain Bahadur Khan Dreshak’s nomination papers from PP 294 were rejected.
Former federal minister Ali Muhammad Khan’s NA 23 nomination, PTI’s Zulfi Bukhari’s NA 50 Attock nomination, and Azam Swati’s NA 15 Mansehra nomination were also rejected. Zulfi Bukhari said his papers were denied due to a falsified signature and that six people engaged in his nomination process were kidnapped.
On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif’s counsel, Jahangir Jadoon, defended the judgment, claiming that candidates for elections must be present in the nation. Sohail Swati, Azam Swati’s lawyer, indicated that Swati’s papers were rejected owing to forged signatures, and that they want to appeal the judgment to the Election Tribunal.
Meanwhile, former federal minister Hammad Azhar’s nomination papers from NA-129 Lahore have been challenged. Rana Irfan Advocate filed it.
Previously, concerns were raised against Hammad Azhar’s documents from PP-171 Punjab.
In addition, Usman Dar’s mother, Rehana Dar, and Umar Dar’s wife, Aruba Dar, were denied in NA-71 owing to social security dues and non-disclosure of assets.
