(Web Desk) – The next stage of the procedure for general elections in 2024 will begin tomorrow (January 1), when appeals against decisions of returning officers about acceptance or rejection of nomination papers will be lodged.
According to the Election Commission’s (ECP) timetable, appeals can be lodged until January 3, while the process of scrutinizing nomination documents concluded on Saturday (Dec 30).
Appellate tribunals, presided over by high court justices, will hear appeals and render decisions by January 10. According to the timetable, the new list of candidates will be released on January 11, and candidates can withdraw their candidacy by January 12.
On January 13, political parties will be assigned election insignia, and voting will take place across the country on February 8.
