(Reuters) – The Afghanistan Cricket Board announced late Tuesday that India will host three Twenty20 matches against Afghanistan in January, marking the first time the two teams will meet in a multi-match white-ball series.
The series will begin on January 11 in Mohali before shifting to Indore on January 14 for a match. The final match will be held on January 17 in Bengaluru.
Afghanistan was originally considered a World Cup underdog, having won only one game in their previous two campaigns.
However, they won four games at the just ended flagship tournament in India and qualified for the Champions Trophy by finishing sixth.
India was defeated by Australia by six wickets in the 50-over World Cup final in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
