ISLAMABAD : Sirajul Haq, the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, decided to petition the Supreme Court (SC) for prompt general elections.

According to specifics, the Jamaat-e-Islami leader argued against postponing the polls beyond 90 days.

He further declared that JI will stage demonstrations against rising power and gasoline costs throughout Pakistan.
The head of JI claimed that although our politicians have increased inflation for the populace, our neighboring nation, India, has attained a state of calm.
In a statement earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) stated that all political parties had agreed to base general elections on the results of the most recent census.

The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) delegation was consulted by the electoral commission before a statement was released.

The 2023 census numbers had received universal approval from the Council of Common Interests (CCI), and it was announced that all political parties had decided to run general elections using the updated census data.

It is important to note that Pakistan’s Election Commission (ECP) has said that general elections cannot be held within 90 days.

The Pakistani Election Commission chose the census of 2023 as the date for the forthcoming general election. According to the ECP, the commission is required to complete the delimitation procedure. The first publishing will take place on October 9 and the last one on December 14.

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) and the provincial governments would be consulted in the delimitation process, the ECP meeting determined.
