According to Sanaullah, Justice Isa’s team may also look into any conversation-tapping issues.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk)- The investigation committee established by the federal government to look into audio leaks, according to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, would also have the power to look into who is leaking these discussions.

In an interview, Mr. Sanaullah said to a private news station that the panel headed by Justice Qazi Faez Isa had the authority to look into who had recorded the audios and leaked them. He said that the civic society and others were pressuring the government to look into the audio leaks.

Before addressing the Supreme Judicial Commission (SJC), the government should have some proof in its possession, he said, adding that “crime cannot take the shield of privacy”.

The federal government established a three-member investigation panel a day earlier to look into the leaked audios that purportedly included the judiciary, previous chief justices, and a judge. The administration said that the talks had raised concerns about the impartiality of judges.

Justice Qazi Faez Isa of the Supreme Court preside over the three-person panel, which also includes Chief Justices Naeem Akhtar Afghan of the Balochistan High Court and Aamer Farooq of the High Court of Islamabad.

According to a government announcement, there have recently been widespread distributions of contentious audios on national electronic, print, and social media that purport to be about the judiciary and former chief justices and judges. These audios have caused serious concerns about the independence, impartiality, and integrity of the chief justices and judges of the superior courts in the administration of justice.

It continued by stating that such audio leaks had damaged public confidence and that severe questions about the “independence, impartiality, and uprightness of the Chief Justices/Judges of the Superior Courts” had been raised by the general public.

The government stated that it was essential to look into the authenticity and veracity of these audio leaks in order to restore credibility of the judiciary because the integrity and character of chief justices/judges are of the utmost importance for maintaining the public trust and confidence in the administration of justice.

The mother-in-law of the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the wife of a lawyer spoke over the phone about matters in the Supreme Court of Pakistan and expressed hope for unconstitutional rule, according to one audio leak that the panel would look into for accuracy.

The panel will start its probe right now and provide its findings to the government in a 30-day report.
