Six lions were killed in a national park in southern Kenya, a blow to conservation efforts and the tourist sector, which is a major source of revenue for the country.

According to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), the lions were slain after attacking goats and a dog near settlements near Amboseli National Park.

“Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident; over the last week, four other lions have been killed,” KWS stated in a statement on Saturday.

KWS stated that company representatives met with the local community to attempt to resolve repeated disputes between the animals and community people, but did not specify what was agreed upon.
