The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday granted bail to former prime minister Imran Khan in all cases, delaying his arrest until May 17.

It is hoped that the ruling, which was reached by a division bench consisting of Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz, will lessen the tension in the country that erupted following the former premier’s imprisonment.

Earlier, following a brief pause for Friday prayers, the bench resumed its deliberations and granted Mr. Khan bail in the Al-Qadir Trust case for a period of two weeks. The hearing was delayed by about two hours and then halted shortly after the former premier entered the courtroom while being heavily guarded.
