Authorities said that a 5.5-magnitude earthquake shook Northern California on Thursday afternoon, but there have been no reports of damage or casualties as of yet.
According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake was centred about 2.5 miles southwest of the town of East Shore and struck around 4:19 p.m.
There was a short shaking that was also felt in the San Francisco Bay region, but no reports of losses have been made.
In a tweet, USGS ShakeAlert stated that “since the quake was greater than magnitude 5, #ShakeAlert-powered alerts were delivered to cell phones.”
The USGS later revised the earthquake’s value from 5.7 to 5.5. Initially, the earthquake was registered at magnitude 5.7.
