Pakistan suffered an early setback when Fakhar Zaman (19), who has been in magnificent form throughout the series, was caught off guard by Matt Henry. However, it was the brilliant 108-run partnership off 121 balls between Babar Azam and Imamul Haq that allowed the home side to post a respectable total.
Mohammad Rizwan (32) and Agha Salman (31) provided some batting resistance before Shadab Khan cameo of 12-ball 21, lacing with one boundary and two sixes.
Matt Henry (3-54) led the bowling attack for New Zealand, taking three wickets. Adam Milne (2-56), who took two wickets, well assisted Henry. Cole McConchie pitched a tight game, allowing just 46 runs and taking a crucial wicket.
Henry Shipley was wicketless and ended up costing the team 73 runs. Ish Sodhi too went wicketless, conceding 56 runs.
Earlier today, New Zealand won the toss and chose to bowl first against Pakistan in the third ODI of the five-match series.
