ISLAMABAD : – On Friday, the Pakistani Supreme Court temporarily halted the Punjab interim government’s notice that Ghulam Mahmood Dogar would no longer serve as the Lahore capital city’s police chief (CCPO).
In its decision on a petition challenging his reassignment, a three-judge panel presided over by Justice Ijazul Ahsan and also included Justices Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Muneeb Akhtar restored Doga as Lahore CCPO.
The Punjab administration requested the transfer of Dogar verbally on January 23, according to the secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), who also said that a formal plea was submitted on January 24. The secretary said that on February 6, the electoral board approved the proposal.
Justice Muneeb responded by stating that the ECP was verbally requested, authorised, and then put into action. He questioned, “Do government institutions operate on verbal communication?”
