ISLAMABAD – Chaudhry Fawad Hussian, a prominent member of the PTI and a former federal minister, criticised the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for refusing to convene a meeting on the Punjab general elections today (Sunday) in defiance of court orders.
He posted on Twitter and stated: “For the elections, the ECP ought to have met today. Don’t make light of the law and the Constitution.”
He said that there was a widespread perception that the electoral watchdog wouldn’t conduct provincial elections as it did in Islamabad since it was made up of “Munshis” (clerks or personal helpers).
Fawad said, “This constitutional muddle will cost the nation dearly.”
The sole agreed-upon document, according to Fawad, is the Constitution, and if it is also “trampled, then the state of Pakistan would be in great danger.”
“Our movement for the supremacy of the Constitution is prepared to say enough is enough. This revolution will begin with the Jail Bharo [movement] and continue till the Constitution is restored “the PTI leader remarked.
