ISLAMABAD – On Monday, the National Security Committee (NSC) led over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif agreed to take action against social media accounts operating negative campaigns to propagate rumours about the country’s economy.
According to sources close to the situation, the huddle evaluated the factors that contributed to the country’s poor reputation on social media.
It was also suggested at the National Security Committee meeting to take action against individuals who conduct negative campaigns against Pakistan on social media.
The group also resolved to keep a watch on social media accounts that support the agenda of the country’s adversaries, as well as to give orders to take action against social media accounts that attack the economy.
Previously, in the first round, the civil-military leadership pledged resolution on Friday to maintain the country’s hard-earned accomplishments and fight with terrorists with an iron fist. The meeting was attended by federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Khwaja Asif, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and others. Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir, other service chiefs, and spymaster Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum were also present.
The civic and military officials’ meeting occurred as Pakistan saw an increase in terrorist cases after the TTP’s withdrawal from the ceasefire deal. According to sources, the meeting committed to bring peace to every area of the nation. It also agreed to guarantee the National Action Plan’s proper implementation.
