LAHORE – Imran Khan, a former prime minister and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), declared on Saturday that it was “a mistake” to prolong the term of retired General Qamar Javed Bajwa as head of the army.

The PTI leader said that his removal from office “exposed many individuals,” adding that he has known the Sharif family for 40 years and that their main goal is to plunder the country and obtain NRO.

Imran Khan continued by stating that Pakistan began to fall apart when these two families—Sharif and Zardari—took control. He further stated that PML-N leader Miftah Ismail and current Financial Czar Ishaq Dar were fighting over the health of the economy as the nation was on the verge of defaulting.

He said, “Granting an extension to previous army head General (retired) Bajwa was a mistake, and extensions should not be given in the military, but the circumstances were such that he had no choice.

Imran Khan stated earlier today that he anticipated the new military leadership would have “dissociated” from retired Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa’s policies in response to PTI leader and Senator Azam Swati’s imprisonment.

The former prime minister said on Twitter, “The entire nation is outraged at the vengeful brutality Senator Azam Swati is being subjected to, and for what crime?”
“For intemperate language and raising questions which is the right of everyone in a democracy?” the PTI Chief questioned.

He said that the current federal government was “regarded as a simple puppet administration,” which contributed to the “increasingly bad” perception that Pakistan and its military were receiving on a global scale.

One had thought the new MLA leadership would have immediately broken its ties to Bajwa’s fascist acts against the PTI, the media, and critical journalists during the previous eight months, he said.

Imran Khan said that Senator Swati, 74, “must be released immediately, not only because he committed no crime to warrant this mental and physical torment, but also because the [military’s] reputation is being undermined by the petulant and spiteful targeting.”
