President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated Turkey’s opposition to Finland and Sweden joining NATO, accusing them of failing to take a hard stand against terrorism.

“We will not agree to those (countries) imposing sanctions on Turkey in order for it to join the security organisation NATO,” Erdogan stated.

Since 2019, Sweden has halted all arms supplies to Turkey due to Ankara’s military involvement in neighbouring Syria.

Erdogan stated in response to the Swedish and Finnish delegations’ intentions to meet with Turkish officials: “They plan to visit Turkey on Monday. Will they come to convince us? Sorry, but they shouldn’t bother.”
