On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appointed Syed Tariq Fatemi as his special assistant for foreign affairs.

“The prime minister has been pleased to appoint Syed Tariq Fatemi as special assistant to the prime minister on foreign affairs, with immediate effect, in accordance with Rule 4 (6) of the Rules of Business, 1973 read with serial no. 1A of Schedule V-A of the said rules,” stated the Cabinet Division in a notification.

Fatemi, who was fired from the same position in 2017 for his role in the historic Dawn Leaks scandal under the Nawaz Sharif government, has named a day after the new federal cabinet’s 33 ministers took their oaths.
