THE HAGUE – Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife Meghan arrived in The Hague on Friday for the Invictus Games, only a day after paying a visit to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were in the Dutch city for a sporting tournament for injured military veterans that Harry, who served in the British army in Afghanistan, established. The event begins on Saturday.
British tabloids chastised Harry, 37, and his wife, 40, for missing Prince Philip’s burial ceremony at Westminster Abbey last month.
Philip died last April, two weeks shy of his 100th birthday, after being married to the queen for 73 years.
The pair saw Queen Elizabeth on Thursday, who will celebrate her 96th birthday in a few days.
On Friday evening, Harry and Meghan will attend an evening event given by the city of The Hague and the Dutch defence ministry.
The pair will attend the opening ceremony and deliver a speech.
The games, which have been postponed twice due to the coronavirus epidemic, include over 500 participants from 20 nations.
The games will conclude on April 22nd.
