A US military plane participating in NATO exercises crashed in Norway, killing all four American personnel on board, according to the Norwegian army.
The four were among 30,000 people who took part in NATO and partner nation Cold Response military drills.
Around 200 planes and 50 ships will participate in the drills, which will go until April 1.
On Friday evening, their plane, a US Marine Corps V-22B Osprey, was reported missing south of Bodo in northern Norway.
On Saturday at 01:30 a.m. (0030 a.m. GMT), “Police were dispatched to the location. The four-person crew has died, according to authorities in Nordland County. All four suspects are Americans, according to the authorities.” In a statement, the Norwegian defence ministry announced.
An MV-22B Osprey was involved in a “mishap” during the drills, according to the US Marine Corps, and Norwegian civil authorities were in charge of the search and rescue efforts.
