The dead toll from the devastating bomb inside a mosque in Peshawar’s Kocha Risaldar area has risen to 56 people on Friday, with another 194 people injured.
According to accounts, police and rescue workers rushed on the area and began a rescue operation. The injured were transferred to Lady Reading Hospital by emergency workers, who were supported by townspeople and neighbours who drove the injured to the hospital in their own cars.
After police and security agents cordoned off the area and began gathering evidence, officials at the Lady Reading Hospital announced a state of emergency.
