Shane Warne, the greatest leg-spinner in history and an Australian cricket legend, died at the age of 52.

“Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Shane was found unconscious in his villa and could not be resuscitated,” Warne’s management said in a statement.

“At this time, the family requests privacy and will provide further information as soon as possible,” says the statement.

Warne was a major component of Australia’s cricket squad from 1992 to 2007, and is widely regarded as one of the best bowlers in the sport’s history, with 708 test wickets.
