On Thursday, the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) rejected the Pakistan Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Act Ordinance 2022. (PECA).
According to reports, the Media Freedom Round Table Conference was held in Karachi on the topic of identifying and addressing the impediments to media freedom in Pakistan.
Senior journalists present at the conference emphasised that expression will not be repressed under the guise of a shadowy law such as PECA.
The gathering was also attended by representatives from the Press Club, Arts Council, KUGs, PFUGs, Human Rights Commission, and civil society.
