BERLIN (Reuters) – According to a German government official, Germany and its Western allies have agreed to remove Russia from the SWIFT global payment system. This is the third round of sanctions aimed at preventing Russia from invading Ukraine.
The sanctions, imposed by the US, France, Canada, Italy, the UK, and the European Commission, also limit the ability of Russia’s central bank to maintain the rouble.
According to the spokesperson, “golden passports” for rich Russians and their families would be banned, and individuals and institutions in Russia and abroad that support the war against Ukraine will be targeted.
