ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, a petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) challenging the appointment of Jamil Ahmed as Director General of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Lahore.
Muhammad Iqbal, a lawyer, filed a petition in which he named the federal government, the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau, and Jamil Ahmed as respondents.
Mr Ahmed was appointed as the Lahore NAB DG on a contract basis for a duration of one year, according to the petitioner, by loosening applicable requirements in “sheer contravention of Supreme Court instructions.”
In the petition, he added, “The employment of a contract employee in the most sensitive and active section of the National Accountability Bureau in such haste smells of mala fides.”
The petitioner argued that the appointment is invalid ab initio and has no legal effect since it is illegal, unlawful, and made without legitimate authority.
As a result, he petitioned the high court to overturn the appointment of the DG of the Lahore National Accountability Bureau.
