BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) — According to the US military, a Navy combat jet training in the South China Sea crashed while attempting to land on the deck of an American aircraft carrier, hurting seven servicemen.
According to a spokeswoman for the US 7th Fleet, the pilot was able to evacuate before the plane collided with the deck of the USS Carl Vinson on Monday and was safely rescued by a helicopter.
Seven sailors were injured, and three were airlifted to Manila, Philippines, for medical care.
