The army rescued more than 300 people, including children, after the federal government decided to deploy personnel from the Pakistan Army and other civil-armed forces for rescue operations after more than 20 tourists died in snow-covered Murree, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
A team of army physicians and paramedics treated the rescued persons, according to the military’s media wing.
Cooked meals were supplied to over 1,000 stranded persons in Jhika Gali, Kashmiri Bazar, Lower Topa, and Kuldana, according to the statement.
The stranded people have been housed and offered shelter at Military College Murree, Supply Depot, APS, and Army Logistics School Kuldana, according to ISPR.
Meanwhile, traffic is proceeding from Jhika Gali to the Expressway following the rescue operation.
The road from Jhika Gali to Kuldana has also been cleared; however, because to the slick condition of the road, no traffic is allowed to travel there, according to the statement.
The ISPR further stated that the route between Gharial and Bhurban is now open and traffic flow has resumed.
Meanwhile, army engineers are “working continually” with heavy machinery to clear the route from Kuldana to Barian.
