DHAKA: India defeated Pakistan 3-1 in the Men’s Asian Champion’s Trophy 2021 on Friday. The much-anticipated battle between the two great fighters and titleholders took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
India seized the lead in the first quarter, scoring 1-0 against their archrival, but Pakistan’s Junaid Manzoor scored a goal in the third quarter.
However, India’s Harmanpareet Singh scored another goal in the third quarter to propel his side to win and qualify for the next round.
Harmanpareet Singh had two goals while Akashdeep Singh had one.
It is worth noting that both teams won the trophy three years ago in Oman. Pakistan has a fantastic record in the Champions Trophy, having won four times, while India won the inaugural event in 2011.
India has improved their game in the previous three years and is considered the favourite to win today’s match because to their ranking among the top three teams in the globe. Pakistan, rated 18, has stayed out of International Hockey since failing to qualify for the first FIH Pro League two years ago.
